Volunteers’ Week 2026

Celebrating our volunteers

For Volunteers’ Week (1 June to 7 June), we’re joining charities and voluntary organisations across the UK in recognising the amazing contribution volunteers make every day.

We want to say a huge thank you to our incredible team of volunteers at Disability Together.

Our volunteers support us in so many different ways. From helping with projects and service delivery to fundraising and day to day support, every hour they give helps us continue supporting Disabled people.

Their time, kindness and commitment make a real difference to our organisation and the people we work alongside.

To celebrate Volunteers’ Week, we’re shining a spotlight on some of the fantastic people who volunteer with us.

Meet our volunteers!

Colin is a Barnstaple Town Councillor who also grows fantastic vegetables. We really appreciate the support he gives to our Sight and Hearing Service, as well as the help he provides at community events throughout the year.

Molly creates amazing crochet and made the decorations for our Princesshay Charity Christmas Tree last year. She also supports our Countryside Mobility service alongside her wonderful guide dog, Clover, who featured in our recent International Guide Dogs Day piece.

Jeanette is one of our Disability Ambassadors. She offers a warm welcome to people in the community, helping others feel comfortable, included and listened to. Through her friendly approach, she helps create a positive and supportive environment for everyone she meets. Both Jeanette and Mowenna support the Oke Community Garden.

James is a valued Time to Talk peer mentor who helps create welcoming and supportive spaces where people can feel heard and understood. He brings kindness, encouragement and a calm presence to the team, and in his spare time enjoys playing the ukulele.

Rob is a much appreciated part of our Time to Talk peer mentoring team, supporting people through our peer support service. He is known for bringing smiles and laughter to those around him, and before volunteering with us, he used to drive vintage cars for weddings.

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers, including those we haven’t been able to feature here. Every single one of you plays an important role in what we do, and we are incredibly grateful for your time, support and kindness.
