Our team offers flexible one-to-one support for people waiting for treatment, living with complex health needs, or looking to stay connected and independent after treatment.

What is Waiting Well?

Waiting Well is an NHS funded project connecting patients to services in the community. 

Working together with the NHS, Disability Together provides support to people on NHS waiting lists.

Support is provided by a team of experts who offer one‑to‑one support by phone or email. We’ll develop a personalised action plan, including information, advice, guidance and details of relevant organisations and services.

How to receive support from the Waiting Well team

Complete our online referral form. You can refer yourself, or if you are a healthcare professional, family member, or carer, you can refer on behalf of someone.

If you need help to complete the online form, please ring 01392 459222 to arrange a call back and mention ‘Waiting Well.’

Please be aware that demand is currently high. We will aim to get back to you within one week of you submitting a referral form.

Frequently asked questions

Can I refer myself?

Yes. You can refer yourself to Waiting Well support. You can also be referred by your GP surgery, hospital clinic or healthcare professional. A family member, carer or friend can also refer you. 

Waiting Well is an NHS funded project connecting patients to support while waitng for NHS treatment this includes: musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions, frailty, weight management and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

If these conditions do not apply to you, or you are unsure, please do get in contact. The Advice and Wellbeing team at Disability Together may still be able to help.

Yes. To receive support from the Disability Together Waiting Well team, you need to be a Devon resident. If you live elsewhere this support may be provided by another organisation.

The demand for Waiting Well support is currently very high, however once you have completed an online referral form we will aim to get back to you within one week. 

No, receiving support from Waiting Well  will not impact your waiting time.

The service is offered by phone or email. If required, we are able to explore alternative communication options. 

If you have been referred into our service, the Waiting Well team will still support you.
