Disability Together, previously known as Living Options Devon, is pleased to welcome and announce Tina Naldrett as Chair of Trustees. Tina takes over from Andrew Barge, who has held the position of chair since 2018.

Andrew’s unwavering support during his time as chair has helped to support the charity through opportunities, challenges and change. Always upholding the shared vision of the charity and creating space for collaboration and growth. We sincerely thank Andrew for his commitment, time and support as chair.

Andrew Barge said: “It was a huge privilege to be asked by our founder, Peter Swain, to replace him in 2018. In those seven years we have been through the pandemic, recruited a new CEO, a number of new trustees and improved our financial position, whilst at the same time continued our mission of supporting our service users to live the life they want. But, perhaps my proudest achievement is in the recruitment of my successor as chair, Tina Naldrett. As we move forward with a new name, and exciting opportunities ahead, I know Tina will be a fantastic leader of such a wonderful charity.”

Tina lives and works in Devon, is a registered nurse in mental health and general care, and owner of a nursing coaching and facilitation business which supports health care organisations and universities. Prior to this, Tina worked in the NHS for most of her career and as a hospice director in the charity sector. She has also worked as a senior fellow for the Royal College of Nursing and as a senior lecturer at Plymouth University. The child of a parent with hearing impairment, and with a long-term condition herself she believes in inclusion and advocating for all. Tina joined Disability Together in 2021 and became Deputy Chair in 2022.

Tina said: “It’s a privilege to be appointed as the chair of Disability Together (formerly Living Options Devon) as Andrew Barge steps down from this role and hands over the baton, his legacy as chair leaves us with a strong, inclusive and forward thinking organisation. He also brought humanity and kindness in his leadership style and I wish to do the same.

I have been a Trustee with the charity for a number of years and have seen the consistent support of many people living with a disability in Devon and beyond. These are exciting times for Disability Together as we build on the 35-year legacy of the founders and those who have gone before. My overall aim is to ensure we can continue to do this meaningful work for many years to come.”

We are delighted to welcome Tina as Chair and pleased to say Andrew will continue to support Disability Together as a trustee.
