About the training:
We are currently hiring experts to deliver our Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism. We are looking for experts who can confidently share their lived experience and expertise to a room full of people.
About our experts:
Our experts with lived-experience are at the very heart of this training. At Disability Together we ensure that our experts feel confident, welcomed and valued for the experiences they share. It’s why we provide ongoing pastoral support and always make sure our co-trainers are paid fairly (at rates equivalent to NHS Band 5, plus travel expenses).
Our experts bring knowledge, passion and their own very personal lived-experience to every session. We are so proud to have them as part of the team.
We are currently seeking people with diagnosed Learning Disabilities to become co-trainers in Barnstaple. If you potentially know anyone in the area who would be a good fit for delivering the training, we do have a few requirements they must be able to fulfil.
Job requirements:
- Confident to stand up and talk about their experiences to NHS and social care staff. We often deliver to 30 – 35 people.
- Able to read from a script and PowerPoint presentation, as well as respond to unscripted questions.
- Able to travel independently or with a support person who can accompany them to every course.
- Able to travel to venues throughout Devon (such as Barnstaple) and arrive by 9AM.
- Attend a 3-day trainer training course – 1 day per week over 3 weeks.
