Countryside Mobility features on BBC Spotlight and Radio Devon

The opening screen of BBC Spotlight

We were delighted to have Countryside Mobility featured on BBC Spotlight and Radio Devon recently. Countryside Mobility provides all-terrain, off-road mobility scooters for hire across the South West, and the team from Spotlight visited two hire locations to see for themselves what the Trampers mean to the people who use them.

The coverage featured The Garden House in Buckland Monachorum and Postbridge Visitor Centre on Dartmoor. Two very different locations: beautiful gardens and tranquil lakeside pathways, and the wide, expansive, forest-lined tracks of Dartmoor National Park.

Sam Hyde, Disability Together Trustee, shared his own personal experiences of Countryside Mobility and explained how using the Trampers himself to explore Devon’s outdoors has helped his mental health and wellbeing.

“All of a sudden, for there to be options you can get out in the country is wonderful. It means you can contribute fully to a family day out and not feel like you’re the one slowing everything up or not being able to make it happen.”

It was very special to also have Yvonne Pope, alongside her husband David, included in the filming. Yvonne was the brains behind creating Countryside Mobility over 16 years ago and still plays a key role to this day, testing out and auditing new locations.

Also featured were Kate Wass, a regular Tramper user who loves nothing more than exploring the great outdoors, and Tim Russel, Recreation and Access Project Officer at Dartmoor National Park Authority.

We are thrilled that Radio Devon also ran a feature on the lunchtime news, talking about the possibilities and opportunities Trampers create for people.

The BBC Devon Spotlight piece is no longer available to view.
